The resort
Phi Phi Natural Resort
Phi Phi Natural Resort sits on the headland of Laemthong Beach at the remote northern tip of Koh Phi Phi Don. It is a family resort, set away from the crowds and parties of Tonsai, with a private beach on the Andaman Sea.
The grounds run from the shoreline up into forested hills. There are 160 tropical cottages and rooms, spread over gardens, the hillside and the beachfront. Guests are taken from the beachfront lobby to their rooms by buggy.
Most cottages are individual Thai wooden houses with balconies. The Deluxe Cottages stand on the private shoreline and look out to Bamboo Island and Mosquito Island. Rooms higher up sit among the treetops.
The founder bought land on the northern tip of the island when Phi Phi still had no electricity or water supply, and built a small resort with help from the local sea gypsy community. After the tsunami the resort built a primary school for the community inside its grounds.
The resort grows more than half of its salad vegetables on its own organic farm. There are two swimming pools, an open air massage hut by a red lotus pond, a dive center and several restaurants on the beach.
